The museum is located inside a park on the corner of two of the most important avenues in this German city. The guiding concept was largely inspired by Walter Gropius' vision of “defying gravity” and the emphasis on movement and the experience of space and time, present in the Bauhaus design philosophy. The building “flies” over a square that overlooks the main avenue and that connects below to the green areas that are located in the back. This allows us to see and circulate through the building, integrating it into its context. The sculptural appearance of the museum provides an iconic reference point for the city.
