The result of a prototype of housing for rent for temporary stays, AC111 emerges. A building located in the San Rafael neighborhood in Mexico City, an area characterized by the diversity of its inhabitants and their ways of living. Therefore, one of the premises of the design was to fully integrate the immediate context and its connection with the city.
When analyzing the surrounding buildings, we decided to create a monolith of apparent pigmented concrete that links its ground floor with its environment through a public area with shops and amenities. The structure follows a simple grid that in turn becomes the façade of the building and the openings in it respond directly to what is happening inside the building, in other words, the rhythm of the openings depends on the various types that exist.
The use of few elements, an efficient structure and simple materials made it possible to create a replicable system based on efficiency and low maintenance to design a series of timeless projects that respond to various characteristics of the city. As well as providing flexibility to buildings to meet diverse needs and to transform themselves to the constant changes of their inhabitants.
