ENA Building

When talking about the common, we cannot dissociate space from time, said Marina Garcés in an interview conducted by Luciano Conheiro. Understanding the time in which we live is important for the construction of new spaces and understanding that we live in a world in constant movement is a reality when it comes to generating new housing models. This is how this system of rental housing for temporary stays emerged, as a way of meeting the new needs of living and reappropriating time to acquire new experiences.

In a neighborhood distinguished by its neighborhood life, ENA emerges, a temporary housing building that is built on top of a building classified by its historical value. The design follows the proportions of the pre-existence to develop a simple reinforced concrete structure, with red brick walls, particular to the Santa María La Ribera neighborhood, and which in turn give rhythm to the façade through the openings that reveal its various types.

On the ground floor, the project is integrated into its context through a small shop that functions as a meeting point for tenants and residents of the place. The use of few low-maintenance elements and materials were key to the development of this system, which is characterized by its flexibility and adaptability in order to generate a time-based community for sharing experiences.
