CDLE Offices

Mexico City, Mexico
2015

Based on the idea of positive and negative —mass and emptiness—, we developed the offices of the CDLE for one of the institutions that are housed in this group. The use of vacuum is based on the idea of creating a relationship with nature in our projects, a thought that we have developed in the studio over time. We believe that this link allows architecture to be part of a place and to take root in its context.

At the same time, the richness of textures given us by pre-existence - mass - led us to optimize all resources and seek simple solutions that enriched the space at a low cost, due to the limited budget we had. The result is a construction that highlights the temporality of the elements, in which the new contrasts harmoniously with the existing and the materiality responds to the needs of workspaces.

The intervention accentuates the weight of existing matter and at the same time imposes the lightness of the large and sober garden, to create a respectful dialogue between both elements and to allow a silence to occur between the two, a pause that invites users to take ownership of the place.
